Before walking the rooms
Use this section to assemble the centre-specific information before discussing the task list.
- Record the centre's address, contact and last pickup/first arrival times.
- Mark occupied rooms, locked storage, staff-only spaces and areas outside the cleaning scope.
- Bring the centre's existing cleaning instructions and any product or surface restrictions.
- List current concerns as observations: location, surface and when the issue becomes noticeable.
Classrooms and shared activity areas
Record the classroom surfaces and responsibilities separately from the rest of the property.
- Identify which tables and accessible surfaces are cleared by centre staff.
- Agree who handles toys, learning materials, sleep equipment and personal belongings; do not assume they are included.
- Record floor materials and furniture that may be moved.
- Separate routine cleaning tasks from any disinfection requested by the centre.
Washrooms, food areas and staff spaces
Identify the instructions and responsibilities that apply to these rooms.
- Identify fixtures and surfaces in scope, together with excluded equipment.
- Confirm responsibility for soap, paper products and other consumables.
- Record how tools and products should be stored and kept away from children's areas.
- Document any kitchen or food-contact requirements with the centre's responsible operator.
Access and completion
Finish the walkthrough by recording access arrangements, review points and unresolved decisions.
- Agree the access handover, alarm instructions and a contact for an entry problem.
- Record how exceptions will be communicated without sharing children's information.
- Choose the rooms and items used for a completion review.
- Ask for a written list of visit frequency, periodic tasks, exclusions and proposal assumptions.
